As the wedding date approaches, one of the questions we hear most often is, “What should I be doing for my skin and hair right now?” There’s so much advice out there that it can feel overwhelming, so when Mahwish shared her professional beauty prep tips with us, we knew they would be incredibly helpful to pass along.

These tips come directly from Mahwish’s experience, curated and shared by us at Events by C, and are meant to keep your routine simple, effective, and stress-free.

One of the most important things to remember is to establish a consistent skincare routine early. Stick to the basics: a cleanser, a moisturizer, and SPF. This is not the time to experiment with new products or jump on skincare trends that could cause breakouts or irritation. If your skin is happy right now, your best move is to keep it that way.

Professional facials can be a great addition to your pre-wedding prep when done thoughtfully. Mahwish recommends scheduling a facial a few months before your event to see how your skin reacts, followed by another facial about four to six weeks before the wedding to allow time for healing. A deep cleansing facial with dermaplaning (peach fuzz removal) is one of her favorites, as it helps create a smoother surface for makeup. Since this type of facial typically doesn’t involve downtime, it can be done closer to the event as well. Everyone’s skin is different, so your aesthetician will always be the best guide when choosing the right treatment for you.

Another key tip is to always patch test any new product before using it on your face or hair. Allergic reactions and unexpected breakouts tend to appear at the worst possible times, so testing products in advance can save you a lot of stress as your event approaches.

When it comes to hair, Mahwish recommends focusing on nourishment rather than change. Weekly deep conditioning treatments can help improve texture and shine, but now is not the time for drastic cuts or color changes. Stick with what you know works for you so there are no surprises close to the big day.

The night before your event, keeping things simple is essential. For your hair, wash it the night before, skip deep conditioning treatments, and blow dry it so it’s clean and ready for styling the next day. For your skincare routine, stick to the basics and avoid oils or heavy products right before your makeup appointment. Cleanser and moisturizer are all you need to prep your skin for flawless makeup application.

If you’re planning to use hair extensions for your event, Mahwish suggests taking advantage of the color-matching services many extension companies offer. Sending in a photo of your hair can help ensure a seamless blend and a more natural final look.
